Tirra Lirra Commission

In the summer of 2014 the British abstract artist Gillian Ayres CBE RA and Weftfaced began discussions regarding a new and exciting project to create one of the artists works into hand woven tapestry. The oil painting chosen by the artist to be rendered into weave was 'Tirra Lirra', most recently shown at the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. This wonderful painting lent itself to the subetly of blended threads which evoke each brush stroke which the artist places onto the canvas.
