Description

What is Artist Development - Stage Two with Caron Penney This online mentoring programme is a follow-on course from Artist Development - Stage One - for artists who wish to spend sustained time developing their practice through critical reflection, experimentation, and dialogue. Structured around a series of live group sessions and independent work, the course supports artists to examine their methods, materials, and influences, and to test new ways of working through guided risk-taking. Participants articulate their practice through short written statements and visual presentations, sharing proposals for new work and receiving constructive questioning from peers and a mentor. Emphasis is placed on experimentation, self-awareness, and the development of a coherent practice, with attention to personal narrative and critical context. By the end of the course, artists will have clarified their intentions, tested their ideas in dialogue, and gained confidence in expressing both the conceptual and material aspects of their work. The mentoring framework encourages reflection and thoughtful risk-taking, helping participants identify meaningful next steps for their practice. How does it work: • Part One: Deepening Practice & Critical Reflection (4 sessions) • Part Two: Development, Articulation & Direction (3 sessions) • Part Three: Professional Pathways & Future Positioning (3 sessions) How does it work? There are ten Zoom sessions, held every week on Mondays. The course is run in England, United Kingdom. We start on September 28th 2026, and Zoom sessions start at 1:00 - 5.00pm UK time.  A full list of dates is available on request. You can book here or contact us for more information and a free 30 minute mentoring discovery Zoom call to establish if you are joining the right development workshop for you. Level This workshop is for intermediate to advanced artists, and not beginners. Our specialism is tapestry/textiles and all artists from all mediums are welcome.
